Tanya Orr, Regional Development Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, was selected for the Leadership North Port Class of 2020-2021 by the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce.
Orr joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties in 2017 as the organization’s Community Engagement Manager. As the nonprofit expanded its reach and impact in South Sarasota County and DeSoto County, Orr transitioned into the role as Regional Development Director in 2019 to foster community relations, increase local support and bolster programmatic opportunities for area youth and families in Venice, North Port and Arcadia.
Through Leadership North Port, Orr will join 16 other local professionals from various industries to examine how leadership in the historical, geographical, educational, economic, government and cultural segments work together to perpetuate and advance the North Port community and its citizens.
“Engaging in a local leadership program is a great way, if not the best way, to learn more about a community,” said Orr. “You get a special behind-the-scenes look into important and vital businesses and organizations that help our community thrive. You get the chance to hear and learn from community leaders. There is also an opportunity to really bond with your classmates and make meaningful connections and friendships. I’m honored to be selected for the 2020-2021 class.”
