The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office seized 63 HP touch-screen computers during investigations into illegal internet gambling cafes throughout Sarasota County. After digital forensic technicians cleaned the computers, the Sheriff's Office donated them to our Clubs! The computers were placed at out Newtown Estates Park, Lee Wetherington and Gene Matthews Boys & Girls Clubs.
"The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office continues to open the door for our Club members to have greater opportunities to achieve their full potential," said Bill Sadlo, President/CEO at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. "Because of the great work being done at the sheriff's office, the children in our community who need us the most have access to state-of-the-art technology that will help them improve their academics while preparing them to graduate from high school with a plan for their future."
The computers will grant students access to technology outside the classroom and further aiding the after-school program in facilitating study and homework sessions.
"We are remarkably proud of our continued partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties," said Sheriff Tom Knight. "By taking electronics seized from criminals to support the outstanding kids who participate in this program, we're setting an example of what it means to truly give back to our community and prepare the next generation for success."
