Nearly 400 families in need were the beneficiaries of a generous donation of a holiday meal from the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust. The distribution took place at the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Boys & Girls Club at 18 School Avenue in Arcadia from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Families from the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Boys & Girls Club, Arcadia Housing Authority, Redlands Christian Migrant Association (RCMA), Casa San Juan Bosco and seniors at St. John Paul II Villas participated in the drive-through donation event. Meals were purchased from the local Publix Super Market, Arcadia Crossings Shopping Center in Arcadia. The deli meal, which serves a family of 5-7 people, included a precooked Boar’s Head ham and an assortment of sides such as mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie.
“We are so grateful for the amazing partnership with the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust,” said Bill Sadlo, President/CEO at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. “Because of their generosity, we can help feed hundreds of families in DeSoto County during the holidays.”
This is the organization’s second year hosting the holiday meal distribution. The Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust Trustees, Eric Kaplan and Dr. Dean Hautamaki, have been instrumental in continuing to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties and many other DeSoto County families in need. “Louis and Gloria Flanzer always believed in the kindness and generosity of people, especially during the holidays,” said Eric Kaplan, co-trustee of the Flanzer Trust. “We are thrilled to provide a hot meal for DeSoto County families during this special time of year.”
